Attendance Management Plan

Being at school and on time opens doors to lots of learning opportunities, helps children build strong friendships, and supports social and emotional growth. To keep our whole school community healthy, it's important children stay home and rest if they are feeling unwell. We encourage children to be here and involved every day to make the most of all that school offers

At St Heliers School, we have clear procedures for recording and monitoring attendance. We work to identify and follow up on any attendance concerns. We make sure students and their whānau are aware of the attendance expectations, and our staff are responsible for reminding students about these expectations. Attendance data for each student is formally recorded on their Term 2 and Term 4 written reports.

From Term 1 2026 all state and state-integrated schools must implement an Attendance Management Plan. This plan will set out how St Heliers School will identify and respond to student absences at specific thresholds.

If your child is experiencing any challenges with attendance, please make contact with your child’s teacher at the earliest opportunity.
