Maritime Class Trips
Over the past three weeks, Paikea classes have been visiting the Maritime Museum to find out more about Pacific and Māori navigation over the past two thousand years, build waka huaora and to sail on the 19th century ketch the Ted Ashby, helping to hoist the sails, which took each class under the Auckland Harbour Bridge and back. Some classes saw bungee jumping, some classes saw dolphins. One class was lucky enough to see an orca whale mother and her young calf. In the afternoon we were given free reign around the various exhibitions which the students found to be highly amusing and entertaining. Many parents have emailed us to thank us for such a hands on, interesting and exciting trip to the Maritime Museum.
